Hackett Hall McKnight[edit]

Belfast MAC

  • ... that the Northern Irish architecture firm Hackett Hall McKnight created a building, the Belfast MAC (pictured), described as one of the "most stunning new British buildings of the century"?

Created by Sionk (talk). Self nominated at 15:54, 28 October 2014 (UTC).

  • Just over the length limit and likely could use some expansion, but cites are good, hook statement is directly cited, new enough and QPQ all check. I'd love more images though, as this one is somewhat difficult to see at small size. Maury Markowitz (talk) 13:05, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
  • @ Maury Markowitz - Thanks for the review. I've replace the image with one of the exterior of the Belfast MAC, which may work better at mini-thumbnail size, certainly more 'building-y'. Personally I liked the interior photo because the building seems to be highly regarded for its interior detailing. But a bit abstract at small size, I agree. Sionk (talk) 13:48, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
Most excellent - yes I think this works much better at this size. Image is CC-by-SA, we're good to go here. Maury Markowitz (talk) 13:50, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

Reopened, as discussed at WT:DYK#Changing meanings. Belfast has "two of the most stunning", and the MAC is one of these two. But that doesn't make it "one of the two most stunning", that would make it (grammatically incorrect) "one of two of the most stunning", or (better) "one of the most stunning". We don't know how many such buildings are in the implicit list by the Guardian, but it certainly has more than two entries... Fram (talk) 08:44, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

well observed, I genuinely misread it (and did think the accolade was a bit extreme). So the correct hook would be ALT 1 ... that the Northern Irish architecture firm Hackett Hall McKnight created a building, the Belfast MAC (pictured), described as one of the "most stunning new British buildings of the century"? Sionk (talk) 15:32, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
- minor tweak is obviously a fine change. I removed the offending word from the main hook. Victuallers (talk) 15:13, 15 November 2014 (UTC)
