Harry Toulmin (Unitarian minister)[edit]

Created/expanded by Acdixon (talk). Self nom at 18:57, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

  • A substantial, well written, well referenced article. Date, length, the hook and its reference are fine. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 20:31, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

I have concerns about potential close paraphrasing. Compare for example "A mob of them stormed Toulmin's house while he was away; when he heard about the mob surrounding his house, he returned home and used diplomacy to disperse the crowd" in the article and "In one instance, a mob surrounded Toulmin’s home while he was away. When he heard of his family’s peril, he raced home and used diplomacy to disperse the crowd" in the source. Nikkimaria (talk) 19:19, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Given that this is basically the only information I have found about the incident, how do you suggest rewording to avoid an issue? Acdixon (talk · contribs) 13:16, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
"A group of these partisans once took advantage of Toulmin's absence to threaten his house, necessitating his swift return to protect his family. Upon arriving, he was able to break up the mob via diplomacy alone." would be a possibility in that specific instance. Nikkimaria (talk) 15:07, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
I'm fine with that. Changed. Did you have other concerns about close paraphrasing that would prevent this from going to DYK? Acdixon (talk · contribs) 15:41, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
Unfortunately, there are other instances. For example, "In 1807, he arrested former Vice-President Aaron Burr for his alleged plot to create an independent nation, free from Spanish control, in the Southwest" is remarkably similar to the source. --Orlady (talk) 22:42, 5 January 2012 (UTC)
Fixed, hopefully. Any more? Acdixon (talk · contribs) 18:42, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
I made a few additional minor changes, but I think it's good now. Toulmin led an interesting life. --Orlady (talk) 20:31, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. I have hopes of maybe claiming a four award for this article sometime in the future, so I need to get it past DYK. Acdixon (talk · contribs) 20:35, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
