Heber Robert McBride[edit]

Created by Amgisseman(BYU) (talk). Self-nominated at 19:32, 27 July 2016 (UTC).

  • Sorry to Amgisseman(BYU) for having to wait so long for a review! This article is long enough, it was new at time of the nomination, it is written neutrally, I find no evidence of copyright violations and has many inline citations. There is a bit of an issue over notability - the article doesn't tell us why he is notable (I am sure he is but its not clear from the text). I would hate to put this on the front page to be quickly nominated for deletion. The infobox says he was a "Mormon Pioneer" but this isn't explain in the article. If you can promptly work on this I will continue the review. ツStacey (talk) 19:47, 17 August 2016 (UTC)
  • Stacey Thanks for your review. I edited the infobox to be more specific in saying that he was a Mormon Pioneer with the Martin Handcart Company. I also updated the wikilink from Mormon to Mormon pioneer. However, I believe that he qualifies as being notable under the following criteria: "The person has made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in his or her specific field" (see wp:anybio). His autobiography would be that historical record. Amgisseman(BYU) (talk) 19:49, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
  • Thanks for considering my concerns. I have looked into it further and I agree with his notability. However, I think what this article is missing is a sentence explaining that he is a notable Mormon pioneer as he documented events in his autobiography - otherwise he would just be a Mormon. The only example I can think of to explain what I mean would be Anne Frank - as a person she was just a Jewish girl in WW2, however she is only notable due to the diary she wrote. Does that make sense? So what we need is a source that says McBride is known for his recordings of the Mormon pioneers. I will have a look myself when I get chance. ツStacey (talk) 20:23, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
  • That makes sense, and I agree. I added a sentence at the end of the article that hopefully ties it all together better if you want to take a look at it. Let me know if you have other suggestions. Amgisseman(BYU) (talk) 16:23, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
  • Article now good to go! Most of review done above, concerns all addressed and the hook is sourced, short enough and neutral. ツStacey (talk) 10:39, 27 August 2016 (UTC)
