Newly created, hook is properly cited, long enough article, good content in hook (caught my eye!). Vlachos died in 1995 so it's not a WP:BLP. Should be good to go. Bs4173 (talk) 01:47, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

- Actually there is a BLP concern, as Stylianos Pattakos was still alive (aged 100) as of November 2012, and his article is tagged as inadequately sourced. The references for this fact appear reliable, but I have no knowledge in this area to assess whether they are biased. It might be safer to just state "one of the principals of the junta" in the hook, unless someone can reference Pattakos properly. Espresso Addict (talk) 03:53, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- But this is not Pattakos' article. This article is about Helen Vlachos and it completely sourced. In fact the hook is sourced 3 times for "clown" and twice for the name of "Pattakos'". The independent states clearly in the quotation inside the reference that
Her description (wholly deserved) of Brigadier Stylianos Pattakos as "a clown" and other outspoken criticisms of the regime led to her being placed under house arrest in October that year."
- and the second reference Kirkus reviews about her book House Arrest which is about that very incident, mentions
..until Mrs. Vlachos in one of her many candid anti-junta interviews with foreign correspondents struck a too sensitive spot by calling Brigadier Pattakos, Minister of the Interior, a clown. Arrested the next day, she was released pending trial by a faithful Kathimerini-reading general, but a few days later the powers-that be placed her under house arrest.
- That was a well-known and celebrated political case and it is fully referenced with in-article quotations of the references. Pattakos is named explicitly in her book, and by The Independent and that is why she was placed under house arrest and escaped to London. This is a well-known and documented political fact. So when you say It might be safer to just state "one of the principals of the junta" in the hook, unless someone can reference Pattakos properly I am not sure what you mean because Pattakos is indeed referenced by a newspaper, a book review and by the book House Arrest itself. All these quotations are in the article. And Pattakos was widely referenced as a clown on other occasions as well. - Indeed! However the hook also links to Stylianos Pattakos, a living person whose article is not properly referenced. Often unbolded linked articles get many hits, sometimes more than the DYK article. Espresso Addict (talk) 07:36, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- The Pattakos article is now cleaned-up and it must be one of the best-sourced articles on Wikipedia by now because I have added 25 new references. In fact I have made sure that every single sentence in the article is referenced, by at least one reference or more, even if historically obvious. At the same time I have added 8 new references supporting the hook of this DYK article. As a general comment, being called a clown in politics, as opposed to actually being one, is not a BLP matter. It is rather a matter of Free speech. The article is saying that Vlachos called Pattakos a clown which was her free-speech right to do. And that fact is fully referenced by about 12 citations from the best sources in Europe and North America and many Google books. The DYK article is not saying that Pattakos was one.
