History of Filipino Americans

Improved to Good Article status by RightCowLeftCoast (talk). Self-nominated at 04:48, 21 February 2020 (UTC).

I have reviewed the DYKN about Classmates (manga).--RightCowLeftCoast (Moo) 05:14, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
  • Promoted to GA. Hook and article are referenced. First three hooks are interesting but last few hooks got too niche to be relevant to most people. No copyright or neutrality issues detected. QPQ needed. KAVEBEAR (talk) 01:57, 23 February 2020 (UTC)
@KAVEBEAR: I did a review of Classmates_(manga), and I provided a diff above for the review. That should satisfy QPQ.
Also, if this DYKN is held to be published on Cesar Chavez Day (March 31), ALT5 should be utilized.--RightCowLeftCoast (Moo) 04:16, 26 February 2020 (UTC)
Good to go. KAVEBEAR (talk) 02:43, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
ALT5 can't work because Chavez is not mentioned in the article and it seems too winded. KAVEBEAR (talk) 02:43, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
@KAVEBEAR: how about this then? ALT7 "... that in 1965, Filipino Americans began the Delano grape strike, led by Philip Vera Cruz, Larry Dulay Itliong, and others?" Source: "Filipino-Americans: The forgotten leaders of '65 grape strike" Bakersfield Californian, 2018
Also per Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Date request - Cesar Chavez Day, there are special instructions.--RightCowLeftCoast (Moo) 03:13, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
Good to go. KAVEBEAR (talk) 08:01, 28 February 2020 (UTC)
  • If Cesar Chavez is not mentioned in the article, I don't understand this special occasion date request. I also find ALT7 wordy and not so interesting after the word "strike". Yoninah (talk) 21:45, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
@Yoninah: The connection is the Delano grape strike which placed Cesar Chavez in the spotlight of national media attention, and made him notable. While, outside of the Filipino American community, it's not widely recognized(NPR, History Channel, Smithsonian Magazine) the role that Filipino Americans had in the Delano grape strike.(SCPR, NYT) Therefore, a mention of the Delano Grape Strike is relevant to Cesar Chavez Day.
Now, if that is not found to be relevant, this DYKN can be moved to the special hold for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, along with the DYKN for Flora Arca Mata.--RightCowLeftCoast (Moo) 02:56, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
  • Yes, that sounds like a better idea. Let's do that. Yoninah (talk) 09:44, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
