History of Michigan Wolverines football in the Kipke years[edit]

  • Article is new enough, long enough, neutral (as far as I can tell), and has no close paraphrasing per Earwig @ Toolserver Copyvio Detector. The hook is under 200 characters, and AGF on the sources. The image appears to be free (AGF). However, there are some important issues:
  1. Photo for the DYK needs to be moved to Commons.
  2. Several refs (e.g. 13, 16, 26, and possibly others) link to Wikipedia articles. (The real sources appear to be offline, but the linking implies the citation is a Wikipedia article.) Remove the links and provide more details so that people can figure out how to acquire these source materials.
  3. Statements like: "The Kipke years were a time of feast or famine for the Wolverines," don't sound very encyclopedic to me. The lead could also use a good copyedit.
  4. A few paragraphs, sentences, and lists are missing citations.
  5. Review by the article's author is listed as "pending".
If these issues are fixed, everything should be good to go. – Maky « talk » 03:58, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
  • Reply. (1)Not aware of requirement that a photo be from commons. So long as it's public domain (which this is), I thought it was ok. If not, please promote without the photo. (2) My mistake. Issue fixed. (3) I share your concern with non-encyclopedic language which is common in sports articles. That said, encyclopedic doesn't have to mean sterile. I think "feast or famine" is a fair summary of the Kipke years -- 4 great seasons (including 2 national championships) followed by four horrible years. If you have other suggestions for the lead, let me know. I gave it another read-through and thought it was pretty solid. (4) Article has 71 sources cited as in-line citations, but I'll add more this evening. (5) QPQ will be completed this evening. Cbl62 (talk) 01:36, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Cleanup tasks now completed. Cbl62 (talk) 01:58, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
BTW, sorry for the delay in responding to your comments. I was pulled away from Wikipedia by real life over the past couple weeks. Cbl62 (talk) 02:01, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
Sorry for my own delays in revisiting this nomination. The edits have certainly improved the article, although I am still worried about WP:TONE with point #3. However, this isn't a policy or guideline, so I think everything is good to go. – Maky « talk » 03:07, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
