Indra's Net (book)

[edit]
  • Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/Zelous Wheeler
  • Comment: expanded beginning 25 March and submitted on 30 March in my local time. Because of its cross-cultural interest, I suggest that this hook be run at a time that permits viewing in both US/Europe and India (e.g., perhaps NOT 12:00pm New York time, which seems rather late, 9:30pm, New Delhi time). --Presearch (talk) 02:42, 31 March 2014 (UTC)

5x expanded by Presearch (talk). Self nominated at 02:42, 31 March 2014 (UTC).

  •  Doing... I'll do the review. Could you suggest an alt? TitoDutta 02:22, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Passed 5x expansion, from this version, very well expanded. I'll continue the review soon. --TitoDutta 02:26, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Is there a flaw in the current hook? By my count it's not too long (I count 179 characters, easily <200). I have a hunch that the computer analogy will actually be interesting to many readers (But perhaps you disagree?). I think having the full book title actually adds interest too, and will make the hook easier to notice on the page. So I guess what I'm saying is that I would find it easier make an alt if I understood what flaw you see in the original hook. Many thanks for reviewing this. -- Presearch (talk) 04:09, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
Here's a possible alt that is clearer that the metaphor comes from the computer world. By my count there are 188 chars (still OK):
ALT1: ... that Hindu gurus are compared to computer systems integrators, and Hinduism to an open architecture, in Rajiv Malhotra's new book Indra's Net: Defending Hinduism's Philosophical Unity?

OK, how about the following? They are identical to each other, except 2b @192 chars has the word "computer" in case that is desirable. I don't really have an opinion about which is better, 2a or 2b. But given your concerns, I prefer them both to the original and to alt1. --Presearch (talk) 18:51, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Good to go with ALT2a or ALT 2b --TitoDutta 00:50, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
