Irish Bee Conservation Project

Created by DdeBar (talk). Self-nominated at 12:15, 29 June 2022 (UTC).

  • This article by a new contributor is long enough, at 1718 characters (281 words) "readable prose size"; it was accepted at AfC 5 days ago; Earwig shows no copyvio issues and it is neutrally written. Both hooks are short enough and are cited inline, the first to Limerick Post and the second to Irish Times. Both hooks are interesting, with the first perhaps more "hooky", and ALT1 shorter with a broader explanation of the purpose of the bee conservation project. The article is well-written and clearly presents the important work of the conservation project. QPQ is waived for this first DYK effort. Good to go. — Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 15:36, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
    • Note: this was originally placed directly on the main nominations page. I moved it to a template. Here are links to the original edits: nom, review.  MANdARAXXAЯAbИAM  23:04, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
      • Glad to see that this article has already moved from AfC to DYK. Suggesting a modification of ALT1, expanding Co. (not always understood internationally) to County, and aiming to make it more "hooky" by mentioning the specific location (per citation). SeoR (talk) 23:45, 29 June 2022 (UTC)
        • SeoR, you're right, version ALT1A is stronger than ALT1. For me, the mention of "wild bee lodges" is only a little more intriguing, but I will leave that choice to the DYK promoting volunteer. Thanks! Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 00:13, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
          • Thanks to IP User 86.44.6.16 for ALT1B, with the link to "bee lodges". I added the same link to the first hook, so now the main difference between the first hook and ALT1B is the explanatory phrase, "designed to replace lost natural habitats" versus the verb "rewild", with the secondary difference the locations at either Lough Gur or Dunsany Castle. I'm persuaded that hook ALT1B is the strongest of the 4 hooks offered. —Grand'mere Eugene (talk) 13:18, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
