Jadwiga Szubartowicz

Created by Konrad Czub (talk). Self-nominated at 23:01, 1 April 2017 (UTC).

  • The article is only 1,119 characters long (it needs to be at least 1,500 characters long). It has a notability tag and needs a lot of copy editing. The ALT1 hook is incomplete. SL93 (talk) 07:57, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
  • The article was improved significantly by another editor. It is long enough, new enough, and neutral. The hook is directly cited. A QPQ is not needed because this is the editor's first DYK nomination. I assume good faith on the Polish references. I crossed out ALT1 as incomplete. The image is free use. SL93 (talk) 10:30, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
ALT2 ... that Jadwiga Szubartowicz (pictured), who at age 111 is the oldest living Pole, witnessed the October Revolution?
SL93 Suggesting ALT2. Let's give her the dignity of mentioning her name. — Maile (talk) 11:39, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
That's fine. SL93 (talk) 12:10, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
So... everything is all right? I still learning of rules of English Wikipedia, so I don't know a lot of things. Konrad Czub (talk) 16:03, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
Everything is fine. SL93 (talk) 19:30, 6 April 2017 (UTC)
  • Re-ticking for the bot. EEng 20:50, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
    • I suggest tweaking the hook and image caption, to something like:
[[File:|120x133px|Jadwiga Szubartowicz in 2016 ]]
Jadwiga Szubartowicz in 2016
This version emphasises that the photo is recent and alludes to the fact that she looks amazingly good for her age. The language is also simpler. Thoughts, SL93, Konrad Czub, Ipigott, Maile66, and EEng? EdChem (talk) 05:39, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
Agree this is better. If it weren't for the risk of her dying, I'd say we should save this until the 100 anniversary of the revolution, this November. But we better strike while the iron is hot. EEng 05:51, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
ALT2a it is. Much better. — Maile (talk) 11:40, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
Based on my request for input here from Piotrus, a native-speaker of Polish and a Wikipedian of long-standing, and his response here that he "can confirm the Alt2 hook ref is correct" and that he "didn't see any other issues", I believe that the AGF tick can be replaced with a regular tick.  :) EdChem (talk) 14:32, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
[[File:Symbol confirmed.svg|16px]] I think simply language in question is better for many people and I think DYK should be as soon as possible, because her age. Konrad Czub (talk) 22:48, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
Konrad Czub, FYI, I have struck your "symbol confirmed" tick as you are the creator / nominator of this DYK and the final status symbols can only be placed by uninvolved editors / reviewers. However, I note that you support ALT2a (thanks), as did Maile66 and EEng, so I'll reinstate mine with support for your request of a rapid promotion to the queue:
ALT2a good to go, supported by several editors and the article creator. Request rapid promotion given the subject's recent illness and extreme age. EdChem (talk) 23:20, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
