Jay Shah

  • ... that Jay Shah, son of Amit Shah, oversaw Gujarat Cricket Association's project of constructing the world's largest cricket stadium?
Source 1: "Been at the forefront of Gujarat Cricket Association as secretary and undertaken project to build world’s largest cricket stadium, in Ahmedabad." [1] Source 2: "In a bid to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of having the world's largest stadium in Gujarat, GCA president Amit Shah, senior vice-president Parimal Nathwani and joint secretary Jay Shah are closely monitoring all developments and providing inputs at each stage of the project." • @Dee03: So could you please provide an alt hook? I wonder why Amit Shah needs to be mentioned here, as he will be unknown to most of our readership. Yoninah (talk) 21:17, 30 November 2019 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: Amit Shah is the President of the ruling party, Union Home Minister and someone with the most decision-making power after Prime Minister Modi. The Indian equivalent of Mike Pence, more or less (Assuming VP is the second-most powerful person in the US?). To the general public, Jay is simply "Amit Shah's son"; so mentioning that fact would pique the interest of readers from the subcontinent. I have suggested an ALT hook below. Dee03 17:38, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
  • ALT1: that Amit Shah's son Jay Shah oversaw the project of constructing the world's largest cricket stadium?
  • @Dee03: thank you for the alt, but it's very geocentric. We're not just writing for the Indian subcontinent. What title would you put in front of Amit Shah's name? "Indian politician"? Yoninah (talk) 23:16, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: Yes, that would be the appropriate title for Amit Shah. Feel free to amend the hook to make it catchier for a worldwide audience. Dee03 17:18, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
  • @Dee03: going with ALT0, which puts the bolded subject first, what description would you put in front of Amit Shah's name? And whatever it is, needs to be added and sourced to the article. Yoninah (talk) 22:45, 5 December 2019 (UTC)
  • @Dee03: As someone who has no idea who these people are, all ALT2 tells me is that two anonymous people built the world's largest cricket stadium. ALT3 tells me that three anonymous people built the world's largest cricket stadium. This leads me to wonder: why isn't the bolded subject the world's largest cricket stadium? I suggested earlier that you add a descriptive title to these names so they make some sense to foreign readers, like "that businessman Jay Shah and his politician father, Amit Shah". Yoninah (talk) 17:13, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
It was built by hundreds of people. This is about one of the bosses of the construction project. Your reaction, that the stadium is interesting but the subject of the article unknown... seems to be what a hook is looking for? ~ R.T.G 16:33, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
  • @RTG: no, the hook should make me want to click on the bolded subject, not on the stadium. Yoninah (talk) 23:56, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
  • You could try using the money scandal, that businessperson Jay Shahs turnover increased 16,000 times in one year? What happened was he got a windfall profit of about €3 or 4m after ten years with a non runner business. I don't think it is as notable as it appears but it's widely reported and the way it is reported is sort of hooky, 16,000x increase is a lot. Otherwise, ALT5 approved . ~ R.T.G 10:15, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
