Auschwitz-Birkenau gate

Oh I didn't see this was already nominated. My proposed hook was going to be "that Jerzy Bielecki and Cyla Cybulska, who escaped from the Auschwitz concentration camp together during the German occupation of Poland, both thought the other dead, until they were reunited in 1983" but original works too. Volunteer Marek  19:31, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
  • Comment: This version of the hook seems snappier for DYK purposes than the longer one, even though the latter is an even more extraordinary story. Cynwolfe (talk) 17:20, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

ALT2: ... that Jerzy Bielecki escaped from the Auschwitz concentration camp with a girl he fell in love with, dressed in a stolen SS uniform?

  • Date, length, format, hook length, hook fact and reference verified. All good. Added caption text to T:TDYK image (above) and expanded the article a bit based on what I read at the citation source for the hook. Nicely done! A. Kupicki
