Comment-- A very worthwhile biography for a DYK! Do the sources indicate if he ever became a US citizen, so we could use nationality = American and ethnicity = Portuguese American in the infobox? (signing unsigned comment Djembayz (talk) 23:03, 1 July 2013 (UTC))

Reply to Comment - I'll take a look at Ancestory today at the library to see if I can find sources. However wouldn't he have to be a US citizen to vote in California? Would this be proof that he was a US citizen? --Doug Coldwell (talk) 10:37, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Further reply to comment - I went to the library and found out he was naturalized 4 August 1888 in Merced County, California. Updated article according.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 14:17, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Looks good! Online refs check out, AGF on printed refs. Article is new enough, length OK. The hook works too.

Might also consider (pls. don't throw ~~tomatoes~~ sweet potatoes for being picky :)
