- ... that when Wood (pictured) was appointed as head master of Harrow School, he was by far the oldest to be appointed since the retirement of Thackeray in 1760?

- These two articles are new enough and long enough. The image is in the public domain, the hook facts are cited inline, the articles are neutral and I detected no copyright issues. Two QPQs have been done. I have changed the word "death" in the hook to "retirement" as being more appropriate. @Moonraker: Could you add a citation for their dates of birth to avoid this being tagged "citation needed". - Cwmhiraeth, that's done for Thackeray. For Wood, I can't do better than the citation from Alumni Oxonienses that he was eighteen in April 1861, so I have made his date of birth "c. 1842". Moonraker (talk) 19:40, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
