K-140 (Kansas highway)

  • Reviewed: I am claiming the under 5 DYK credit exemption.

5x expanded by Ks0stm (talk). Self nom at 20:14, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

  • Second DYK so no need for standard QPQ. Well written, long enough (5x expansion). Everything looks good, although I would suggest this rewritten hook:
  • Good to go then. — ΛΧΣ21 02:06, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Can we please have independent verification of the rewritten hook, since "U.S. Route 40" and "U.S. Route 40S" are not necessarily the same thing, so the rewrite is actually introducing a new fact that must be verified in the article and its sources? Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:13, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
  • Well, I put 40S because the text on the article says 40S :) — ΛΧΣ21 17:21, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
  • While established as US-40S, US-40S later became the primary US-40 route...either way, US-40S is US-40. Either way works, although I would suggest inserting "a part of" before US-40 or US-40S because K-140's route is not the entirety of either. Ks0stm (TCGE) 17:40, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Needs another reviewer. In my opinion, the cited maps do not directly support either hook. There is a 1926 map which is being used to state that K-140 was established in 1926. There should be a WP:RS that says these words; not just a route marked on a map. Neither can I see K-140 identified clearly on either map. I therefore cannot declare that either hook is sourced --Senra (talk) 11:23, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

  • No, what's being sourced is that US 40 was established in 1926, and that it is the same routing as K-140 today. Furthermore, maps are used in many road FAs as sources for history. --Rschen7754 20:18, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

My previous viewpoint stands. This needs another reviewer. For clarity, the maps do not clearly confirm that US 40 was established in 1926. All the 1926 map shows is that US 40 was present on an extant 1926 map --Senra (talk) 21:34, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

  • Got it. I dug reeeeeallly deep and found a source that explicitly states the year as 1925 and have added this to the article. Ks0stm (TCGE) 22:13, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
    • ALT/updated: ... that Kansas highway K-140's route was originally established in 1925 as U.S. Route 40S?
    • --Ks0stm (TCGE) 23:46, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
  • Hook fact verified for ALT2, crossed out other two per Senra's concerns. Expansion is good, image is good. Incidentally, the article is now a GA. Chamal TC 01:55, 23 February 2013 (UTC)
