  • The article is long enough and new enough. It is almost ready to go. However, I just have a couple of concerns. The hook must be cited. So add a source that claims "that Karamokho Alf led the first Fulbe jihad in West Africa". Also, you should turn Fulbe into a Wikilink so as to not confused readers because not too many people know where or what Fulbe is. Once these small concerns are dealt with, Im sure it will be a wonderful DYK. Proudbolsahye (talk) 19:18, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
  • The first sentence of the lead has a wikilink to Fulbe so I think that is covered. The last sentence of the 2nd paragraph of the "Jihad" section now says Under his leadership Fouta Djallon became the first Muslim state to be founded by the Fulbe.[7], pointing to 7, which supports the sentence. But come to think of it, it does not quite say it was the first Fulbe jihad, just the first to succeed. How about ALT1 below?

  • I prefer that too. But the suggestion pushed me to change the name from Kingdom of Fouta Djallon to Imamate of Futa Jallon, which is used by various books. It was not really a kingdom, since the ruler was elected from among the clerics, and the English "Futa Jallon" is preferable to the French "Fouta Djallon". So maybe ALT2 below?   • New enough, long enough, well-referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. Note: In looking up citations at random, I couldn't find the information cited under Background (first paragraph, last sentence) in footnote 4. I found something on p. 27 in that source about disdaining the pastoral existence; not sure if that's what you're referring to. The first part of the ALT2 hook is sourced in the article, but there's no sourcing for its location in present-day Guinea. Best, Yoninah (talk) 21:59, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
  • The source for the Background section, para 1, last sentence is Willis (1979) p.25, last paragraph, which says: "Machat ... stressed that the ruling Muslim dynasty ... was in origin "part Fulbe" ... distinct from pastoral Fulbe, whom they treated with the same condescension..." and goes on to say they were urban, sedentary and mixed to some extent with the Mande people. I think that does confirm what the article says. I added a source to confirm that the Futa Jallon is in Guinea. Aymatth2 (talk) 05:55, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
