Karen Briggs (musician)

[edit]

2x expanded and sourced (BLP) by The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk). Self-nominated at 02:25, 25 October 2015 (UTC).

The articles cites this source to support the claim that Briggs received the moniker after performing in the Live at the Acropolis tour. However, when I read the source, I did not see any mention of the fact that she received her nickname after that performance. The source does say this: "During the tour, Linda Evans, Yanni’s wife, successfully suggested Briggs as the soloist for the “Yanni Live at the Acropolis” video. Linda Stokes designed the infamous red dress for Briggs’ solo performance." However, I don't think we can infer from that information that she received the nickname at that time. Does the video provide this information? If yes, then we should mark this nomination with a grey checkmark (i.e. ) to show that we are assuming, in good faith, that the offline source is accurate. -- Notecardforfree (talk) 21:18, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Notecardforfree: Hmm, yes, you're probably right. I was so concerned with citing the Linda Evans part that I neglected to properly source the second part. I saw Briggs most notable performance was during "Yanni Live: At the Acropolis" wearing the now infamous red dress. and thought it was enough. It's not as precise a connection as it probably should be though, especially for a DYK, so I've added in two more sources that were already in use elsewhere in the article to support the hook. Please let me know if that meets the requirements. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 23:09, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
The VOA source does, indeed, substantiate the claim made in the hook. Although the VOA source is a blog, it is written by a subject matter expert on behalf of a third-party organization, so I think we can consider this a reliable source. The article also cites an article from nj dot com, but that source does not state that she gained her nickname after the Live at the Acropolis performance. The Squirrel Conspiracy, thanks so much for your help clarifying this and your prompt response! Best, -- Notecardforfree (talk) 23:41, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
