• ... that Karl G. Maeser, one of the founders of Brigham Young University, adopted Pestalozzian ideals and supported teaching students with love and respect? Source:Called to Teach, a recent biography of Maeser, goes into great detail of Pestalozzi's influence on Maeser. The page I cited specifically recounts a time when Maeser taught future teachers to teach children geography through illustrations of continents, rivers, and such. The author states that Maeser was teaching them Pestalozzian ideas. There's also a footnote on page 72 saying that Maeser practiced Pestalozzian teaching based on what his students said about his interactions with them.

• This article is a newly promoted GA and is long enough and nominated soon enough. Of the hooks offered I am choosing ALT2 which has inline citations for the hook facts.
