Kenny and the Kasuals

[edit]

5x expanded by TheGracefulSlick (talk). Self-nominated at 05:20, 11 April 2017 (UTC).

  • The source is inline cited to the Texas State Historical Society, which is RS. Article and hook are length-compliant and NPOV. QPQ is done. No image. Article is long enough. Earwig indicates low likelihood of copyvio. The only other issue is the 5x expansion. On March 2 the article had 3,967 bytes of content and, after expansion, it had 10,528 bytes. All additions appear to be body additions without substantial infobox or caption edits. I apologize if I'm misunderstanding something, TheGracefulSlick. DarjeelingTea (talk) 06:32, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
DarjeelingTea did you check for readable prose? According to 5x expansion criteria, "Prose character count excludes wiki markup, templates, lists, tables, and references; it is calculated using User:Dr pda/prosesize.js or a similar extension". If it is still short, I made an error and I apologize.TheGracefulSlick (talk) 13:42, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
No, TheGracefulSlick, it was my mistake. I also did a word count and was coming up short but - looking at it now - it appears to be over 15X expanded. Not sure what I did, sorry. Anyway, good to go! DarjeelingTea (talk) 16:13, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
DarjeelingTea not a problem. Thank you!TheGracefulSlick (talk) 17:40, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
  • Whoa, really Yoninah, my script is way off then. I think that is manageable, however, if I'm given a day to edit. Isn't there an exception about copyright violations not counting toward character proses? I started editing the page because I noticed almost all the work was copied or closely paraphrased from Daniel's book (I have a copy).TheGracefulSlick (talk) 22:40, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
  • Per WP:DYKSG#A4 it would appear that if you blanked the copyvio text and then built a new article, the 5x expansion rule would not apply here. Pinging @BlueMoonset: for input here. Yoninah (talk) 22:47, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
  • Yoninah, even if we assume that only the two paragraphs cited to the Parker/Daniel book were copied, that still reduces the pre-expansion count to about 1200 prose characters, so this is easily a 5x expansion excluding the copyvio/close paraphrase material. (The odds are the unsourced paragraphs were also part of the problem, but we don't need them.) Given that there were other sources used, possibly without issues, this can't be considered to be a complete restart, but enough of one to satisfy the expansion requirement with room to spare: DYKcheck, which is the DYK gold standard, gives the prose character number as 6571, and the pre-expansion number (including copyvio sections) as 2067.
