Leslie H. Sabo, Jr.
[edit]... that Leslie H. Sabo, Jr., who will receive the Medal of Honor for actions with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War, was born to an upper-class Hungarian family that lost its fortune after World War II?

- ALT1 ... that President Barack Obama will give Leslie H. Sabo, Jr. the Medal of Honor 42 years after he was killed in Vietnam?
- ALT2 (suggest for use on MainPage on May10th, the anniversary of his death): ... that Leslie H. Sabo, Jr. will posthumously receive the Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama 42 years after he was killed in the Vietnam War? --PFHLai (talk) 02:06, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- BTW, can the (second) picture of Mr Sabo here be used? --PFHLai (talk) 02:10, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Depends on who took the photo. Based on the quality it is 90% likely it was another solider while on duty so that would fall under PD but if it was a reporter or journalist then it would be copyrighted. -- Esemono (talk) 03:03, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- I am under the same impression, but I lack the means to investigate further. --PFHLai (talk) 11:38, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Well this source says the photo comes from his brother "George Sabo". There is a local reporter here who might know the brother's contact info. -- Esemono (talk) 00:09, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

- Length OK, date OK, references formatting OK, Hook is sourced to this timesonline.com article "His parents, Elizabeth and Leslie Sr., were part of an upper-class family in Hungary who lost their fortune when their nation landed in the Soviet bloc after World War II...President Barack Obama announced today that Sabo will receive the Medal of Honor, the U.S. military's highest award for combat valor" ALT1 is supported by this article: "President Barack Obama will award Specialist Leslie H. Sabo, Jr., U.S. Army, the Medal of Honor ... posthumously for his heroic actions in combat on May 10, 1970" -- Esemono (talk) 01:08, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Main hook has 216 characters, and is thus ineligible for DYK; I have struck it. If ALT2 and a May 10 date are desired, then this should probably be moved to a Special Holding area down below. I have removed the ALT1 hyphen in "42-years" and ALT2's parenthetical underlined "not 32"; the nom has been approved, so the hooks should be in final form. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:38, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
