Linguamyrmex[edit]

Linguamyrmex vladi head
Linguamyrmex vladi head

Source:Etymology "In reference to Vlad III, or Vlad Dracula (c. 1429–1476), prince of a region of Romania then called Wallachia. His moniker, Vlad the Impaler, refers to his favoured and frequent method of execution, which inspired the vampirous character Count Dracula fictionalized by Bram Stoker in 1897. The patronym is in reference to the presumed impalement of prey by Linguamyrmex and its liquid diet (see later)" (type description)

  • New enough, long enough, cited appropriately. Free of copyvios that I can detect: the link flagged by Earwig's tool appears to be lifting from Wikipedia. QPQ complete. Hook fact is interesting, and cited inline. Some issues that need resolving, though. I don't think the bolded link should be a redirect. The hook is also confusing as written: it should probably read "...Vlad the impaler, who inspired Count Dracula". Also the article could use some copy-editing, in that there are missing commas and apostrophes: I'll try and get to this later, but "Bram Stokers Dracula" and such things are basic enough that I think they ought to be fixed for DYK. Unsure about the image: licensing okay, but doesn't show up too well at a small size, though I'll leave this up to the promoter. Also the image seems to be to be displaying very large, though maybe that's just my computer...Vanamonde (talk) 17:55, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Alt0 changed per suggestion. I don't see a problem with the bolded link, since it goes to the article and the full binomial is in the lead and the taxobox. I'm not sure whats up with the image. Im not a wiki-gnome and do not claim to be proficient with punctuation subtleties.--Kevmin § 18:00, 17 September 2017 (UTC)`
  • Capitalizing the first letter of a sentence, and using an apostrophe to indicate possession, are not exactly subtleties; but in any case, I have been over the article once, and now it looks okay. GTG with the original hook. Vanamonde (talk) 09:03, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
