  • @Feminist: This is just my observation and not a full review, but I suppose the nomination may be quite hasty, since this is a quickly developing situation. Though stability is not a criterion for DYK, this is only the second day of November (third day for Hong Kong), and I think there may be further developments over the course of the month. epicgenius (talk) 00:59, 3 November 2019 (UTC)
  • I agree, but regardless of whether an article is stable or not, a "hasty" nomination is required if I were to comply with DYK rules which dictate that an article must be nominated within 7 days of creation or expansion. feminist (talk) 02:21, 3 November 2019 (UTC)

  • Interesting: No - It may just be me following the HK protests a lot (as my family's originally from that area) but I don't find the hooks to be excessively interesting. I think the mistaken re-arrest of protesters may be far more interesting, but it isn't in the article and may only be tangentially related. Let me know what you think.

  • @Epicgenius: Thanks. I've added the re-arrest to the article and split the paragraph under "Central". I'm actually surprised at this getting reviewed so quickly because I expect major additions to this article regarding future events. I nominated this article so quickly to ensure it satisfies the newness requirement, not because I expect this article to be stable. This means a new review (focusing on policy compliance) may be required in a few weeks. For a hook relating to the re-arrest:
  • ALT2: ... that riot police entered a court building in Hong Kong to re-arrest defendants after a spelling mistake by the justice department led to their charges being dropped? feminist (talk) 14:08, 5 November 2019 (UTC)

  • Comment:I don't think DYK is a suitable place for drawing attention to this ongoing emotional event. WPITN deals with this sort of event usually. Sometimes it deals with little else. ~ R.T.G 01:06, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
    • @RTG: I don't believe there is a restriction on having ongoing events at DYK, unless they have already been at ITN. It might not be the best place to draw attention, but it's technically still eligible.
    • @Feminist: As it's now December (your time), I wonder if you can possibly propose more hooks. I will also have to do a re-review of this article.

      • I'll take a look later today. I'd note that the drop in protests after 19 November is mostly to do with the 2019 Hong Kong local elections and a desire from both camps to turn it into a city-wide referendum on the protests, leading to many protesters vowing to pause protests for a few days before the elections. feminist (talk) 01:37, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
      • @Epicgenius: Plenty of hooks here, but the escapes from PolyU would probably be the most dramatic for hook effect:
