  • More sources are needed to show notability. 現代ビジネス looks good, OpenGenus IQ seems self-published (so might not count), and the University of Tokyo press release for their team winning ICPC is not independent enough (to establish notability). The IOI, Code Jam, Hacker Cup links in competitive programming should be considered on par with "listings in database sources" for other sports which by WP:SPORTCRIT doesn't count towards notability either. are primary sources from the contests themselves but we need secondary sources for notability. —HTinC23 (talk) 21:28, 13 December 2021 (UTC) (edited 22:00, 13 December 2021 (UTC))
  • @HTinC23: Hi. I have removed the ToykoU press release. Will keep OpenGenus but will supplement it with other sources. I have added one main English source but most of the others are in Japanese since I am only about to find Japanese language sources that are willing to mention the subject in the news. Also update info as subject was in 2 not 1 ICPC competitions. -Imcdc (talk) 05:21, 14 December 2021 (UTC)
    • Thanks. I am convinced that e.g. NewsPicks and the IPSJ journal are fine. (But sorry I'm very new to DYK so I'm not confident to give a full review... So let's wait for another editor.) —HTinC23 (talk) 11:48, 14 December 2021 (UTC)

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: An interesting article - thank you for uploading this. You do not yet have 5 DYK credits, therefore you do not need to do a QPQ. The hook is cited at OpenGenus IQ, which HTinC23 is not happy about. Can you confirm whether the Japanese sources confirm the information in the hook? If that is the case, then I can accept the hook in good faith. Storye book (talk) 17:28, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

@Storye book: Hi. I used OpenGenus IQ because thats the only website that consolidates the data. Otherwise we will need to use multiple sources as this is a combination of multiple feats. Assuming we want to go that way, here is how it is broken down

For both his Math achievement and his programming achievement, I have posted two Japanese websites each that mention him and cite the achievements made. I have also posted an additional source to backup each Japanese source so we know the information can be verified.

Now as I am still new to this, I'm not sure what's the best way to combine all these sources into the hook. Btw since my article has been reviewed and altered since time of creation, I'm thinking of whether the hook should be updated to sound more interesting. Do let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions. Thx -Imcdc (talk) 18:05, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

  • Thank you, for kindly going to such trouble to explain this. As I understand it, you have confirmed the sources for the hook, so that I can now pass it, taking the Japanese sources in good faith. I think that ALT0 is a good hook - the man is to be greatly respected for what he has achieved. Storye book (talk) 21:24, 1 January 2022 (UTC)
