Created by RoySmith (talk). Self-nominated at 03:26, 16 October 2018 (UTC).

Article is recent, long enough, sourced, all sources are online and the content was verified, image is properly licensed, no copyvio detected, neutral tone. I prefer the original hook (I doubt specifying May 16 adds value, I am also Ok with keeping it). QPQ remains to be done. This is only my third DYK, so I believe I'm QPQ exempt. -- RoySmith (talk) 02:17, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
I agree that dropping the May 16 bit improves the hook. Adjusted, above. -- RoySmith (talk) 02:19, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
Nomination is good to go. Nomination is exempt from QPQ [1]. Bammesk (talk) 02:53, 17 October 2018 (UTC) . . . . Sidenote: @RoySmith: for your info I am neutral on mentioning the year 1950.
I'm actually liking the idea of not mentioning the date at all. What's interesting is how old the subject was, not what year it was on the calendar. -- RoySmith (talk) 02:56, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
I crossed out ALT1 for clarity. Bammesk (talk) 02:39, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
