National Zeitung[edit]

5x expanded by Turismond (talk). Self-nominated at 07:59, 18 November 2018 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: Yes - Offline/paywalled citation accepted in good faith
  • Interesting: Yes
  • Other problems: No - "subsidy" is not a verb
QPQ: Done.

Overall: suggest rephrase: "National Zeitung received funding from the West German government". West Germany doesn't exist anymore so it's obvious this was in the past. Catrìona (talk) 14:10, 18 November 2018 (UTC)

  • @Catrìona: thanks for the review. I have changed subsidiary to subsidy in the article and proposed an ALT1. Does this fix your concerns? Turismond (talk) 23:33, 18 November 2018 (UTC)
- Length, Date, Earwigs, and QPQ check. Foreign language ref for hook accepted AGF. However, in the Overview section there are no citations in the first and second paragraph. Turismond, please find and add/transcribe from elsewhere in the article citations as appropriate. Best, Mifter (talk) 02:02, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the review, Mifter. The two unreferenced paragraphs were the original component of the article, before my expansion, and not written by me. I opted not to remove them at the time but, in all honesty, they are not about the newspaper at all but rather about the situation of the German far-right in general and, specifically, far-right parties. I would prefer to remove it from the article. At some stage in the near future, I would like to expand the article on Frey's former party, the DVU, and possible reuse the content there. What is your opinion? Turismond (talk) 03:57, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
No problem Turismond, happy to help. Looking at the article, the paragraphs do seem out of place as they talk more about the parties than the newspaper. As they are off topic and uncited, I do not believe it would damage the article if they were integrated elsewhere (with citations to 3rd party sources, see also WP:COPYWITHIN) or removed if none can be found (see WP:CHALLENGE). This is also important because words such as "propaganda" (which is used in the third paragaph's first sentence) come close to WP:LABEL and should be well cited when used (similarly as to how "extreme right" is very well cited in the lead). Once the uncited portions of text are removed from the article, we should be good to go for DYK. Best, Mifter (talk) 04:33, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for your advice, Mifter. I have removed the two sections. Turismond (talk) 04:55, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks! All set to go. Best, Mifter (talk) 05:01, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
