Nikolai Moskvitelev

Sukhoi Su-30
Sukhoi Su-30
  • ... that Nikolai Moskvitelev, a former officer in the Soviet Air Defence Forces, was still flying in old age, including a Sukhoi Su-30 (pictured) on his 80th birthday, and a Yakovlev Yak-52 just before his 90th? Source in Russian: "He celebrated his 80th birthday in 2006 with a flight in a Su-30 fighter, completing aerobatics with a load of up to 6gs. And on the eve of the 90th birthday, the general flew ... a Yak-52 with the same gforce!" ([1])

  • Comment: I think the picture is a good illustration here, showing what a modern jet fighter it was to be flying at 80, not to mention putting it though 6Gs of aerobatics apparently!
