Numb (Usher song)
[edit]- ... that according to Erika Ramirez of Billboard magazine, the lyrical message of Usher's song "Numb" is "Forget your troubles and fist-pump!"?

- New enough, long enough, hook and reference check out. However, it's really heavy on the quotes. That needs to be dealt with before this goes anywhere. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:05, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, I will try to trim the quotes and re-write some of them. You are talking specifically for the Critical reception or Composition too? — Tomica (talk) 12:15, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Even in the background section there are issues. The quote from Rico Love is already five sentences long! (BTW, what's Billboard magazine stuff?) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:19, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- The stuff from the magazine? Anyway, nevermind, I changed to the name of the author. I trimmed some of the quotes, the only section left would be the Critical reception, I would have to ask for a little help there. — Tomica (talk) 12:44, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

- In context it doesn't look very clear. Regarding quotes, honestly critical reception is the least of my worries; such sections tend to be heavily based on quotes anyways, especially for articles with English-language sources. I'm more concerned with stuff like "an inspirational song about finding one’s destiny, and becoming numb to the negativity and just following your dreams", which cold be rephrased as "'Numb''s lyrics, described by (person) as "inspirational", deal with numbing out negativity to follow one's dreams and fulfill one's destiny" or something similar. "We'll see if we can come to Atlanta, and if we can, we'll start to work on some tracks, writing, and moving the ball forward" is similar, in that it can easily be rephrased (such as "The group agreed to work with Usher, saying they would attempt to make it to Atlanta to start "moving the ball forward" with work on tracks on writing.") — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:17, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- That being said, the article looks quite a bit better. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:18, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- I changed the later in the Production and release section, but I think the one in the composition section should stay as it is now. — Tomica (talk) 14:25, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
- Perhaps its a different way of approaching things (Ruma Maida, for example, has fewer quotes and - as usual for articles I work on - does not give more than a sentence or two per reviewer). Anyways, my concerns over overquoting have been fairly well addressed and I'm pleased to pass this DYK nom. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 14:39, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
