Hook is interesting and sourced to Famous Pictures "The meeting was top secret at the time...". Article meets size and date requirements. Image meets awesome requirements. This looks good to go. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 05:49, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Famous Pictures, the self-published wiki? "Hello. My name is Dean Lucas and I'm the admin and as of this moment the only contributor to the Famous Pictures Project. I'm something of a history nut and have always been fascinated by famous pictures and the stories behind them. I started out this project as a book concept. I've tried to submit the idea to a number of publishers but no luck. Plan B was this webpage. I've recently added ads in hopes of paying the bills to keep this site going." Ahem. - Maybe, but I was referring to the hook, that is the pert where it says the meeting was secret (which is not apparently verified by the LA Times source). Dahn (talk) 15:20, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
- It is verified by the LA Times. You're right about Famous Pictures being a single author, but a website with a single author it isn't a wiki. It's a common resource on WP for famous pictures, but if it isn't reliable enough there's the LA Times to back it up. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 17:50, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
- 1) I mostly relied on your original comment, which notes the source for it being a "secret" meeting is Famous Pictures. I then did a quick check of the LA Times source, and nothing jumped at me about the meeting being secret - my eyes are very tired, as it is very late over here, and perhaps my English is not all it could be; could you then please quote the LA Times statement verifying that the meeting was secret? 2) It sure seems that it works on a wiki platform, and what's more, the user page I quoted from clearly says that more contributors are welcomed. Nothing about the editorial policy, though, not to mention about peer-review. Just a self-published project. On that grounds, and per WP:RS, I feel that not only should we not base our hooks on that source, but the source itself should not be used as a reference. At all. Dahn (talk) 22:16, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
- OOps, I had not noticed the comment above, with the LA Times quote, sorry about that. By I'm afraid that my comment about the source being used in the article still stands, per WP:DYK's "Nominations should be rejected if an inspection reveals that they are not based on reliable sources". - Wiki has nothing to do with the software, the software was built around the idea of a wiki. The difference between Wikipedia and Britannica is obviously more than software. That being said, I'm not arguing that Famous Pictures is or isn't a reliable source, but it is only used as a secondary reference. There is no info in the article that isn't sourced in the other refs. So what exactly is the complaint? ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 22:36, 9 May 2012 (UTC)
I removed the Famous Pictures link which was only supporting the LA TIMES article: "The two men agree their meeting is best kept a secret. Nixon is sinking in the polls, Elvis is working on his comeback, and neither of their constituencies was likely to understand."
