Papal conclave, 1691[edit]

  • ... that during the 1691 papal conclave cardinals burned down their sleeping quarters in the Vatican while playing cards? Source: "The most excitement came from the fire that broke out in the Vatican late one night in June, after a lamp was knocked over by a cardinal who was playing cards. It ruined several cells.. " Baumgartner p. 165 (offline)
    • ALT1:... that the 1691 papal conclave saw the first votes cast for non-cardinals since 1503? Source: "Votes went to noncardinals, which had not happened since 1503" Baumgartner p. 165 (offline)

  • Comment: My preference is for ALT0, but also including ALT1 since it is shorter. DYK check isn't working for me so in case it isn't working for others: by my copy and paste character count the prose characters in the current version are at 3949 compared to 226 in this version. Expansion began with this edit on 5 June 2017.

5x expanded by TonyBallioni (talk). Self-nominated at 01:59, 8 June 2017 (UTC).

  • Article is expanded five-fold, starting on June 8. Prose is neutrally written, and clocks at 3940 characters so it's long enough. QPQ done. I must assume good faith with the offline references, though. The hook will be a matter of preference, but otherwise good to go. Bluesphere 15:03, 15 June 2017 (UTC)
