Pelé[edit]

Improved to Good Article status by JerrySa1 (talk). Self-nominated at 18:32, 2 August 2017 (UTC).

  • Became a good article recently, definitely long enough (it's a really compelling read!), is neutral, cites sources, no copyvio. I fixed the formatting in the hooks, it's interesting, definitely cited, and neutral. (Should it be mentioned that he plays association football? Or has he "transcended" that?) However, a QPQ needs to be done. (see backlog) --Hameltion (talk, contribs) 14:10, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
  • Hameltion, while it would be nice if JerrySa1 reviewed another DYK nomination, new contributors to DYK have an exemption to the Quid Pro Quo requirement until they have amassed five DYK credits. I can't see that JerrySa1 has any previous credits, or indeed has previously edited any other DYK nomination templates, so it would seem that he does not have to do a QPQ. • I'm sorry, I got carried away with reviewing and hadn't checked if he had any previous DYK credits.
  • This is a great article! --Hameltion (talk, contribs) 16:13, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
  • (edit conflict) Also, per WP:DYKSG#C2: Don't assume everyone worldwide knows what country or sport you're talking about. So I think your instinct is right about specifying the sport in the hooks. These should be adjusted prior to promotion. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:15, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

  • JerrySa1, I hope you don't mind, but I modified "footballer" to "football player", and linked "football" to "association football" for clarity. (Interestingly enough, "footballer" just redirects to the "football player" article.) BlueMoonset (talk) 00:50, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
