Pembrita Betawi[edit]

Created by Crisco 1492 (talk). Self nominated at 14:46, 9 April 2013 (UTC).

  • What was checked? Also, can this be held for 3 May (World Pres Freedom Day)? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:20, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Thanks. Just asking though; what was checked? Reviewers should be explicitly ticking off the criteria. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:12, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Other things? (referencing, paraphrasing, etc.?) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:06, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
* New article has 3,953 characters (above the min. 1,500). Hook is under 200 character limit with 83. Refs 1, 5 and 9 offline, so AGF. Article is well-sourced. QPQ done. Looks good to go! —Bloom6132 (talk) 10:13, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
  • (P.S. Not a DYK requirement, but the lead could be expanded if you're looking to go for GAR.) —Bloom6132 (talk) 10:13, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the review. I'm not all that sure that the body meets the minimum requirements for GA, although admittedly this article is one of the better English sources on the newspaper. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:25, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Personally, I think the topic should be identified as a newspaper in the hook, and a translation of the title should also be included. IMO this sort of basic information should be provided routinely in a hook. Gatoclass (talk) 13:10, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

  • "Newspaper" added as this is being held for press freedom day. A translation, however, would just be wasted space in a hook in my opinion; it's fine in the article, but unnecessary when we've got 200 characters to get something across. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:17, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Well, in this case, since the newspaper's name is not very informative, you probably have a point. Generally speaking though, a translation is usually helpful IMO. Gatoclass (talk) 14:23, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I agree a lot of newspaper names are not very informative, although I think some are. I was thinking more of translations of, say, film or book titles. Gatoclass (talk) 17:52, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Alright. That might be tenable, although if it should be a rule is likely a discussion for another place. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:24, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
