Ping Yuen

Ping Yuen against the backdrop of San Francisco's Financial District
  • ... that the name of Ping Yuen, a public housing complex in San Francisco's Chinatown, translates to "Tranquil Gardens"? Source: [1] ("the committee chose 'Ping Yuen', meaning 'Tranquil Gardens,' ...")
  • Comment: Possible alternative hook (needs source check): ALT1: ... that Ping Yuen ("Tranquil Gardens"), a public housing complex in San Francisco's Chinatown, has an entrance modeled after a temple in Beijing?

Update: The paifangs at Chinatown Central Plaza in Los Angeles predate this (west gate, 1938; east gate, 1939); hence the source is mistaken. Cheers, Mliu92 (talk) 16:42, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
PS: I believe this falls under QPQ exemption, but just in case: I recently provided this review. Regards, HaeB (talk) 04:15, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
  • Article meets DYK requirements, no close paraphrasing was found. Only ALT1 is approved as the first is not exactly interesting to a broad audience. ALT1 is cited inline and verified in the source. The image used in the nom is probably unsuitable as it doesn't show off the article subject much; I could suggest using the image of the gate itself in its place, although I'm not sure if it looks good in a small size. Although a QPQ was done, it was not necessary. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 12:45, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
