Pocahontas (Neil Young song)[edit]

*... that Neil Young's "Pocahontas" brings Marlon Brando and Pocahontas together in the Astrodome following an Indian massacre?

Created by Rlendog (talk). Self nominated at 17:43, 19 August 2013 (UTC).

  • Created on 17th Aug. Comfortably long enough, and appropriately structured w/ all sections one would expect from a song article. Some references are offline in books which appear to be of high quality. I have checked all online refs; all support the relevant sentences, and no copyvio noted. QPQ has been done. The hook is supported by more than one source. Ready to go. Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 20:35, 19 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Needs a different hook; the current one violates the WP:DYK rule: "If the subject is a work of fiction or a fictional character, the hook must involve the real world in some way." (Mentioning Neil Young's name is not sufficient.) Perhaps the current facts could be retained (or mostly) and some real-world connection be added? I don't know whether the "biting surrealistic twist" quote would undermine the effect of the rest of the hook, but it's one possibility. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:32, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
  • It looks to me like this can be fixed with a pretty minor revision to the hook to clarify the context:
That would be fine with me. Another possibility would be *... that Neil Young's "Pocahontas" brings Marlon Brando and Pocahontas together in the Astrodome following an Indian massacre in what has been described as a "surrealistic twist"? Rlendog (talk) 20:59, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Both of the hooks just above—Orlady's and Rlendog's—are supported by the article and its sources, and have the real-world involvement that DYK requires in hooks about fictional works. My thanks to you both. BlueMoonset (talk) 22:26, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
