Poppin'Party

Moved to mainspace by ZappaOMatic (talk). Self-nominated at 07:00, 14 May 2020 (UTC).

  • I'll be claiming both this and the Roselia nom for review and will try to do both within the next few days, but even as an anime fan myself and as someone who's watched BanG Dream, I don't think both hooks going on the same day would be allowed as they're from the same topic, unless a double hook is made that mentions both Popipa and Roselia. For now, I would suggest crossing out ALT1 as it's rather niche. ALT0 is okay, but perhaps a different non-primary source could be used since it's referenced to Bushiroad's website. I think ANN reported on it so maybe that could be used instead? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 13:19, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
Part of me feels ALT1 could probably be reworded a bit to make it more general (like "that the animated band Poppin'Party had the number-one single on a Japanese music chart in January 2020?"), but I suppose it might be too niche if it's focusing on a Japanese market. For ALT0, I found this page from ANN, but it's just the same press release; there are some ANN articles covering the single's release, but they don't specify being the first anime artist to end up on Oricon.
If all else fails, we could possibly go for a PoPiPa/Roselia double hook. It's a pretty general one (for me, anyway, but that's to be expected for fans of the franchise), but this one does its job and is probably interesting enough for non-fans: ZappaMatic 19:50, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
  • ALT2: ... that the members of the bands Poppin'Party and Roselia are voice actresses in the BanG Dream! anime series who could play their characters' instruments in live concerts? (Source)
  • I'll be reviewing Poppin'Party first, with Roselia to follow. The article is long enough and was nominated within seven days of it being moved to mainspace. No close paraphrasing was found, although QPQ is pending. ALT1 is probably too niche outside of Japanese music fans, while ALT0 is fine but perhaps may suffer from similar issues. One option could be to mention that their "Initial" single actually hit #1, but I can't recall if they were the first in-anime artist to do so. The best option for broad audiences would probably be ALT2 (I've made some minor edits to it for clarification purposes), although I'd like to hear a second opinion from a non-anime fan on its suitability. The problem is that as far as I can tell, ALT2 is only explicitly mentioned in the lede in the Popipa article, and without a reference. Meanwhile, I have concerns about the article content: while obviously Popipa is an in-universe band as well, the in-universe part of the article is very long, about half of the entire article, when much of its content would probably better be explained in the List of BanG Dream! characters article, with the Popipa article only needing a summary of that. As I mentioned in the Roselia nom, if the issues could be fixed on time, assuming ALT2 ends up being used, having the hook go up on June 1 (the second anniversary of former Roselia bassist Yurika Endō's final concert) would feel appropriate, though I'm not sure if it will be approved. We should be good to go now with the double hook (as also mentioned at Template:Did you know nominations/Roselia (band)) as the QPQ and in-universe issues have been addressed; the hook interest criterion is also met based on a request for second opinions I made on WT:DYK. For Popipa's article, I am using the Oricon source as the main reference (AGF accepted) as I believe the English link might count as a (English translated) copyvio of a Real Sound article (in which case I'd suggest linking to the actual Real Sound page instead).
