Radley (company)[edit]

Created/expanded by Miyagawa (talk). Self nom at 20:23, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Good to go. Maile66 (talk) 12:29, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
  • I am concerned that the structure and phrase of this article seems to be quite close to that of its first source. Nikkimaria (talk) 22:03, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
  • I've paraphrased elements from the article - I've just double checked and there doesn't seem to be an occasion where more than three words in a row match. Even then I've made a deliberate attempt to structure the individual sentences different so that it's not just single words swapped out to fool any automated checks. It's the only independent source I've found for the initial origins of the company, so I'm not sure how I change it any more significantly without no longer presenting it in a chronological order. • I reviewed the article and I saw the problem that Nikkimaria was concerned about. The words may have been altered, but the article closely followed the structure of the cited source. There is more than one way to present the information -- and, in my opinion, the source wasn't particularly linear about telling the story. I have rewritten large parts of two paragraphs to structure the information in a different fashion. I've only looked superficially at the other sources cited, but if there are problems, at least they didn't leap off the pages for me. Need some fresh eyes to review the current version. --Orlady (talk) 04:31, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks Orlady, I appreciate it. Miyagawa (talk) 20:40, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
  • I also did some editing/tightening of a few paragraphs. Though I am unable to access the full Highbeam articles, I think the article is well written and encyclopedic. I just wonder if the Radley name is familiar enough that the hook will go. Or you could write:
  • ALT1: ... that in response to retailer demands to "tone down" her colorful handbags, Radley owner Lowell Harder put a Scottie on each bag, and sales soared? Yoninah (talk) 18:56, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
  • Yoninah's editing takes the article wording a bit farther from the source. Good work! The ALT1 hook doesn't quite cut it though, as it's not entirely clear from the source that the addition of the dog image was truly in reaction to the retailer demand. The source says, in part: "...Retailers tried to persuade her to tone down her designs, which she refused to do. Inspired by her love of dogs, she tried putting a brightly coloured cut-out of a terrier on some of her designs. The result was an immediate hit, and the sales team demanded a Scottie dog on every bag." Let's go with the original hook. --Orlady (talk) 23:32, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
