Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon[edit]

  • Reviewed: Template:Did you know nominations/1 the Road
  • Comment: I don't think a source is necessary here considering that it's the premise of the entire article, but any reference in the article would do, really. A new article I created with IMO a really interesting premise, this is my first DYK in a long time so hopefully everything works! Satellizer el Bridget (Talk) 10:18, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

  • I really like the proposed hook, but DYK rules state that hooks about fiction need to involve around the real world. I will be asking for advice over at WT:DYK if the current hook wording fits that; otherwise, I might ask if we could do an IAR here since the hook is really good and I don't think there's anything else in the article that could work as a hook. The full review will be to follow. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:53, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
Of course, another possible option could be to mention that the LN has been praised in its reviews for its unusual plot; that might work as a compromise to fit the guidelines. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:56, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
I'm sure that the proposed in-universe fact could be combined with the fact that this was the author's first professionally published book, and he was about to give up after four years of rejections. You can have in-universe combined with real world in the hook, just as long as there is a real-world component. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:54, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
@Narutolovehinata5: How about something like: ALT1: "...that a 2016 Japanese light novel series received praise for its unique protagonist, who is a vending machine?" (see refs 1 and 13). Involves the real world while still being actually interesting. Satellizer el Bridget (Talk) 08:48, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
  • Article is new enough (moved to mainspace the date it was nominated), long enough, with good referencing and no close paraphrasing. ALT1 sounds like a reasonable compromise on explaining the premise of the series while having a real-world basis; cited inline and interesting. QPQ has been done. Should be good to go with ALT1.
