Russian criminal tattoos

[edit]
Tattooed prisoner
Tattooed prisoner
  • ... that wearing an "unearned" criminal tattoo in a Russian prison was punishable by death?
  • ALT1:... that the Soviet underworld had a complex system of tattoo signs and symbols?
  • ALT2: ... that just wearing an "unearned" criminal tattoo in a Russian prison could lead to beatings or murder by other inmates?

  • Interesting DYK, interesting article, new enough, it seems to fulfil all of the criteria, as far as I can tell. Main proposition is better than Alt. SkywalkerPL (talk) 17:17, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
  • The main hook is definitely more interesting, but it is slightly misleading. It reads as if wearing an unearned tattoo results in a legal sentence of death, but the article seems to read as if an unearned tattoo resulted in murder at the hands of other inmates. Could one of the article creators clarify this, either in the text or by proposing a new, more accurate hook? ~ RobTalk 12:39, 10 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Hey, amended slightly to be a bit clearer. That make more sense? Battleofalma (talk) 10:12, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
  • Yes, definitely better. For the future, it's better to leave the old proposed hook there and add an alt when substantial changes are made, so that the discussion about the nomination continues to make sense to those who view it later. Restoring tick; good work on this article. ~ RobTalk 11:18, 11 August 2015 (UTC)
