Skyfall (song)

[edit]
  • ... that "Skyfall", a song recorded by Adele, was released as the theme song for the 23rd James Bond film, Skyfall?

Created/expanded by Igordebraga (talk), Caladonia (talk). Nominated by Hahc21 (talk), Paul MacDermott (talk) at 19:03, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

  • NOTE Hook would be ideal to coincide with the release of Skyfall later this month. London premier is on 23 October, while the film goes on general release on 26 October. Paul MacDermott (talk) 20:09, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Checks out fine. Not sure the track list template is really needed since there's only one song on the release; but that's just me splitting hairs. I'd suggest holding this one until October 23, though. GRAPPLE X 00:42, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Indeed, if it actually reaches number one before the film's release. :) Paul MacDermott (talk) 12:43, 12 October 2012 (UTC)
This isn't hooky at all. Secretlondon (talk) 18:10, 13 October 2012 (UTC)
I have struck the ALT2 hook: the one source given for it, a primary source, does not show this fact when I checked it today. Sourcing can't be evanescent, and in this case, for a hook source, it needs to reliably reflect the information if someone clicks on the source. If a secondary source is found giving the "less than twelve hours" information and cited instead, the hook can be used—indeed, it was my preference of the four, as the first isn't at all hooky, the second strikes me as promotional, and the fourth is confusing rather than interesting. That iTunes ref wasn't there when I suggested the hook, so I think it was added later by someone with whom I had a small exchange over the reliability of its use. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm assuming its unstable because as soon as another song hits number one the page will change to reflect that. Anyway, it looks like I misread the figure, it was ten hours. This BBC ref was used for the original hook, so assuming good faith (hopefully), it would have been ok. Claim is further backed up by this from the Daily Mail, so I'll add it, and if nobody objects the hook can be updated to reflect the references and correct my error. Number one in which country? Despite the hype it didn't end up UK number one - although they managed to get press coverage saying it didn't get to UK number one.. Secretlondon (talk) 07:54, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
The UK apparently. It became the iTunes number one, but not the Official Top 40 number one. Anyway, I've amended it accordingly. Paul MacDermott (talk) 09:39, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Approving ALT2 only, which is supported by the inline source citations; have struck original hook and ALT1 based on Secretlondon's complaint that they weren't hooky, and ALT3 because of accuracy issues. Sorry this wasn't addressed until now; will see if this can be inserted into a prep area so it runs on the 23rd. I've also added a DYKnom template for Paul MacDermott, who has been the most active of the two nominators listed and certainly deserves a nomination credit. • Thanks for adding Paul :) it would have been unfair if he didn't received his credit. — ΛΧΣ21 15:22, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
