St. Peter, Leipzig[edit]

lithography of the church

  • ... that the present Peterskirche (pictured) in Leipzig replaced a former Gothic church of the same congregation at a different location?

Building a new church in a different location is pretty darn commonplace. Can't you think of anything else? EEng (talk) 14:30, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

How about

ALT2: ... that the present Gothic Revival Peterskirche (pictured) in Leipzig was used as barracks during the Thirty Years' War? Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 12:22, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
Sorry, that was the Gothic one, not the present one. The Gothic church was also one that the Thomanerchor served at Bach's time, among others, - we lost that part of Bach history to the congregation building the new one. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:28, 9 March 2015 (UTC)
  • If the article had cited information about Bach, that could be used in the hook.
Length checked, used German wiki sources?; could use some English references; image checked; QPQ done. Zeete (talk) 19:36, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
It was the Bach connection which made me write the article but I guess we had around 150 DYK mentioning Bach and may want a change, - also he only organized the music there, that's nothing spectacular, - I like the irony of a real Gothic building replaced by imitation Gothic, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:11, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
ALT3: ... that the present Gothic Revival Peterskirche (pictured) in Leipzig replaced an actual Gothic church?
something like this? Zeete (talk) 20:23, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
I thought of ALT1, but this may be better, - I leave nuances to native English speakers, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:40, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
  • Good to go with ALT3. Zeete (talk) 21:23, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
