Overall:
Both of these generally look good; I don't see any problems with the article, qpqs check out; but, and this might be personal taste, I don't think it's a super interesting hook. I think you could make something interesting out of the fact that he was a Danish sculptor and that the statue was funded by the local Scandinavian community.
