Statue of John Laird, Birkenhead War Memorial[edit]

Birkenhead War Memorial

Created by Peter I. Vardy (talk). Self nominated at 12:28, 14 January 2014 (UTC).

  • Statue of John Laird was created January 13, 2014, so new enough. 3218 characters (553 words) "readable prose size", so more than long enough. Hook is directly cited to an offline but apparently quite reliable source. About half of the article is about Laird rather than his statue, i wonder that we don't seem to have an article about him instead or in addition. But that has no real bearing on the DYK nom. Articel has sufficent inline cites and seems to use reliable sources. (AGF on offline sources, but there is no real question here.) Editing credits confirmed.
Birkenhead War Memorial was created 14 January 2014‎, so also new enough. 3643 characters (635 words) "readable prose size", so more than long enough. Article says "Grade II is the lowest of the three grades of listing and is applied to 'buildings of national importance and special interest'" which contradicts Statue of John Laird where the same is said of grade III. This should be corrected or clarified in one or the other article. Hook is ialso directly cited inline in this article. Online sources confirm what they are cit4ed for, and there is no copying or close paraphrase. AGF on offline sources.
Hook at around 100 characters is fine, neutral, and at least somewhat interesting. Nom looks good except for query aboyt Grade II vs III above. DES (talk) 17:05, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the review. Sorry, but I cannot find "Grade III" anywhere in either article (if it's there it's a typo). The three grades are I, II*, and II. There used to be a Grade III, but it's no longer used. If I've missed it anywhere, please tell me and I'll fix it. --Peter I. Vardy (talk) 19:44, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
It isn't there now, although I was sure I saw it in Statue of John Laird. Probably an error on my part. Anyway, this now looks good to go to me. DES (talk) 14:52, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
