The Early Bedroom Sessions[edit]

5x expanded by Eurohunter (talk). Self-nominated at 13:18, 31 March 2019 (UTC).

  • The following part from the article needs a citation (unreleased "Rainbow Stars", "Try to Stop Us" and "Wizard Elements".) before the article can be featured on the main page. Also, the hook is not interesting. A compilation album by its very nature will always include songs from an artist's past album (and possibly unreleased material). This is not unique to this album. I would try to find something more interesting to substitute for the hook. Aoba47 (talk) 22:11, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
    • @Aoba47: There is no source says that these songs never been released but if you check all Basshunter and other releases these songs are not included on any release. What should I do? Eurohunter (talk) 22:29, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
      • I am not exactly sure for this case. You could try reaching out to other editors who specialize in music or wait for another editor to respond here (as having more eyes on this would always be helpful). I would say the priority should be finding a better hook. Aoba47 (talk) 22:32, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
        • @Aoba47: I added second proposal. Eurohunter (talk) 22:34, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
          • It is somewhat better but I am still not convinced. It would seem pretty ordinary to me for a music critic to recommend a compilation album to fans of the artist's music. I am not sure if that would count as interesting to a broad audience or not. However, I will leave this up to another editor as I would ideally like a second opinion about this (and the uncited portion discussed above). Aoba47 (talk) 22:39, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
  • @Aoba47: Do you know if I schould add to lead that it's the only compilation album by Basshunter? Eurohunter (talk) 22:42, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
    • Maybe there is a way to write a hook about how Basshunter released old and unreleased music for the album that were released prior to his record deal? It may not be the most unique thing in the world, but I think it would be a little bit more interesting. Here is an idea (... that Basshunter's compilation album, The Early Bedroom Sessions, includes music he independently released prior to signing a record deal?). I think the lead is fine as it is currently stands. Unless you say something is the first compilation album, it can be assumed that it is the only one. Aoba47 (talk) 22:49, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
      • @Aoba47: "includes music he independently released prior to signing a record deal?" - it's true. When I told I want to add information that it's the only compilation album I meant lead in the article (definition). Eurohunter (talk) 23:05, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
        • I am not recommending that for the lead. I am recommending that as a possible hook. That is a separate issue, and I already answered your question in my above post that it can be assumed that it is the only compilation album unless said otherwise. Aoba47 (talk) 23:07, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
          • @Aoba47: I added new proposal. "contains some tracks" means exactly four tracks due to he self-released The Old Shit after he signed to Extensive Music and Warner Music Sweden. Eurohunter (talk) 23:22, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
            • Makes sense. Another editor/reviewer should look at it before it is approved. Aoba47 (talk) 23:25, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
    • I would also recommend that you try to find some third-party sources. I just looked at the "References" section and just noticed that it was almost entirely either liner notes, Apple Music, and social media platforms (aside from AllMusic). This raises some question about notability to me. I will leave this up to another reviewer/editor to comment on though.Aoba47 (talk) 22:51, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
      • The Early Bedroom Sessions was mentioned by Westmeath Independent in this article but it include only a year of release. Eurohunter (talk) 23:05, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
        • I would recommend looking for further sources as that may be an issue with having the article on the front page. Again, I will leave that up to another reviewer/editor to comment on. Aoba47 (talk) 23:08, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
          • @Aoba47: Probably I could add some sources to story of The Bassmachine and extend article generaly about Basshunter beginnings. Eurohunter (talk) 23:22, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
            • Just make sure that the sources are specifically about the album and not just about general information about the artist that is not connected to this particular release. Aoba47 (talk) 23:25, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
              • @Aoba47: It would be more about material of The Early Bedroom Sessions, so about The Bassmachine album and story around it that Basshunter unreleased tracks was meaningful to his career. In this case there is only AllMuisic, Westmeath Independent, official sources and album itself. Eurohunter (talk) 23:37, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
                • Again I will leave that matter up to the second reviewer/editor. It just raised some notability questions for me. Aoba47 (talk) 23:39, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
                  • @Aoba47: I think labels are good aspect here because they are well recognised Ultra Records, 3Beat Productions and Extensive Music. Eurohunter (talk) 14:01, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
I will leave that choice up to you. Aoba47 (talk) 18:09, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

@Gatoclass: Apologies for the random ping, but I was wondering if you could help with this DYK nomination. I proposed the third hook as I was uncertain about how interesting the first two would be for a casual reader. I also had concerns about an uncited sentence in the article and the notability of the article in general as it currently only cites one secondary source. I would greatly appreciate any input as I still new at looking through DYK nominations and I am not particularly good at it, and I would like to help the nominator as much as possible. Apologies again for the random message. Just wanted to reach out to someone who was more experienced. Aoba47 (talk) 20:50, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

  • Willing to help review this nomination, but I have to agree with the sentiment raised here that all of the proposed hooks aren't exactly great. The first few don't really appeal to those who aren't fans of the artist, while Aoba's suggestion is fine but not spectacular. Could something else be proposed here? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 12:28, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
  • @Eurohunter: Pinging the nominator for the above question. While I think a lot of great work has been put into the article, I am struggling to think of a good hook for this. Aoba47 (talk) 05:57, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
Looking through the article, and unfortunately, it appears that finding a new hook might be tricky if not impossible. The only suggestion I can think off involves the quote The Early Bedroom Sessions is dedicated to loyal fans because the tracks it includes are barely connected stylistically and because of problems with the availability of The Bassmachine and The Old Shit., but if that doesn't work, this may have to be marked for closure as an unsuccessful nomination. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 19:23, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
@Narutolovehinata5: I see your point, but I am uncertain how it could be worked into an interesting hook. The part about being dedicated to loyal fans is a reviewer comment and not particularly interesting. Also, the part about availability issues is supported by this sentence (Still, these two albums are hard to acquire on their own, meaning The Early Bedroom Sessions serves a practical purpose for the Basshunter faithful.) which is somewhat vague in my opinion, specifically if it is going to be used to support information that appears on the main page. Aoba47 (talk) 03:13, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
@Eurohunter: Any further word on this? If not, then I believe this should be withdrawn. Aoba47 (talk) 01:55, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
@Aoba47: I think this is on limit. I have no idea what I could add yet (following the avaiable sources). In this moment I have no also any other idea for hook. Eurohunter (talk) 19:39, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
  • I will leave this up to another reviewer (possibly @Narutolovehinata5: could help?). I think you have done good work with the article, but I just do not believe there is anything in the actual prose that qualifies as "hooky" or interesting enough for a hook. I am sorry. Aoba47 (talk) 22:46, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
  • Honestly I don't really see any way forward there at this point. The suggestion I raised above appears to be problematic, and considering it was pretty much the last remaining option, it seems we have no choice but to mark this as unsuccessful. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 23:29, 13 April 2019 (UTC)
    • @Narutolovehinata5: How I can mention this discussion and result at discusion page of article? Is there any template? Eurohunter (talk) 22:54, 15 April 2019 (UTC)z
You can just leave a message at the talk page saying that this had a DYK nomination. As far as I know the DYK talk page template is only for successful nominations, not failed ones. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 00:07, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
The template is only used for successful nominations. Aoba47 (talk) 17:45, 17 April 2019 (UTC)
Eurohunter, I'd suggest just opening a new section on the article talk page in the normal way, and mention that the nomination was made, including a link to this nomination page (Template:Did you know nominations/The Early Bedroom Sessions). Sorry things didn't work out here. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:10, 18 April 2019 (UTC)
