The Gambia at the 2008 Summer Olympics[edit]

5x expanded by NG39 (talk). Self nominated at 06:03, 10 November 2014 (UTC).

I don't like plural pronouns used to refer to one thing or person, so I added ALT1 and ALT2. --George Ho (talk) 04:35, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

NG39 has been renamed to User:Vanished user 9j34rnfjemnrjnasj4 (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), but it's an indication that the nominator actually quit Wikipedia, leaving the nomination without a QPQ, despite good efforts on the article. --George Ho (talk) 00:32, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

  • According to DYK check, the successful 5x expansion actually started on October 31, when the lede was rewritten; on that day, the article had grown from 294 to 614 prose characters. That's ten days prior to the nomination date, too long for DYK. The subsequent expansion from 614 started on November 9; the article currently has 2833 prose characters, but the required 5x expansion from 614 needs 3070. Though close, it's not there, and as the nominator has "vanished" and failed to provide a QPQ, I don't see how it can get there. There is also a "citation needed" template. If someone wants to work on these issues before this closes, they're welcome to (and should chime in below); however, under the circumstances, I'm marking this for closure. Article reached GA status on the 11 November, the day after this was nominated, so length no longer matters. Fact is cited. If anyone cares to donate a QPQ to finish this up, feel free. Fuebaey (talk) 15:15, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
I've added my own QPQ as the nominator hasn't recently reviewed at least one nomination. --George Ho (talk) 06:09, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
  • This article qualifies for DYK as a newly promoted GA and George Ho has kindly donated a QPQ. The article is neutral and the hook facts are cited. Any of the hooks could be used but I recommend using the original hook in which I have changed "their" to "his". I detected no copyright issues or close paraphrasing.
