Tamamushi Shrine[edit]

- Great to have a Tamamushi DYK! Have reviewed and expanded; length and date both ok; hook however is unfortunately incorrect, as there are many painted kofun of the period and possibly some buildings, depending on dates and definitions; also see Takamatsuzuka Tomb. How about this alternative hook: Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 13:18, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- ALT1... that the Tamamushi Shrine shows a bodhisattva offering his life to feed a hungry tigress and her cubs?
- ALT2... that the Tamamushi Shrine is important to the understanding of early Japanese Buddhist architecture?

- Here's another possible hook that I like because it gives a solid and unique fact about the article subject.
- ALT3... that the Tamamushi Shrine derives its name from the iridescent wings of the tamamushi beetle with which it was once ornamented, but which have now exfoliated? -- MyNameWasTaken (talk) 22:10, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, my preference would be for a hook that draws readers to the paintings and/or architecture (ideally mainly the latter as that is where there is the best existing Wp material); the tiger (and beetles) may make attractive hooks; ALTs 1 & 3 are ready to go, 2 would need a little tweaking. Would be good to have an image (and slot no.1) - that above may need to be swapped, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 02:42, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Length and date of article and all three ALT hooks ok; good to go; (slight preference for ALT2), Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 14:44, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- Any of the three hooks is fine with me. However IMO, the main purpose of the hook should be to raise interest and to get as many people to click on the link. As such, I prefer ALT1 since the others are IMO too well-behaved/boring for somebody throwing a quick glance at the DYK section. Perhaps if ALT2 could be rephrased with a superlative, something like "...that the Tamamushi Shrine is the oldest..." !?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Bamse (talk • contribs) 21:40, March 13, 2012 (UTC)
