  • ... that Theresienstadt concentration camp (pictured) was advertised as a "spa town" where elderly Jews could "retire"? [1][2] Source: "You are strongly encouraged to quote the source text supporting each hook" (and [link] the source, or cite it briefly without using citation templates)

  • Comment: There are lots of possibilities here, but this one jumped out at me as hooky, easily proven, and noncontroversial.

  • The hook looks good, but I'd suggest revising "advertised" - i.e. "promoted by the Nazi authorities as a "spa town"..." -- "advertised" suggests that they took out ads, etc. Also, "by the Nazi authorities" or "by the Nazi SS" should be added, to avoid questions: advertised by whom? • ALT1: that the Nazi authorities promoted Theresienstadt concentration camp (pictured) as a "spa town" where elderly Jews could "retire"?
  • I'm a bit uncomfortable that the hook repeats the source almost word for word: Theresienstadt was cynically described as a "spa town" where elderly German Jews could "retire" in safety. [3]. Perhaps: ...that the Nazi authorities promoted Theresienstadt concentration camp (pictured) as a a "spa town" and a "retirement" community for German Jews? • @K.e.coffman: It's worth noting that many of the sources echo each other: see Gerald Steinacher, Humanitarians at War p. 57: "In Nazi propaganda, Theresienstadt was portrayed as a "spa town" where elderly German and Austrian Jews could life (sic) out their lives in peace." On that point the USHMM source is incorrect in stating that only German Jews were targeted in this scam. However, after considering this I think your wording avoids concerns about close paraphrasing, and propose the following variation: Catrìona (talk) 12:38, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
  • ALT3: that the Nazi authorities promoted Theresienstadt concentration camp (pictured) as a "spa town" and "retirement settlement" for Jews? Source: "[4]; [5]
  • GA article; approved within 7 days before nomination; prose is longer than 1500 characters; supported by inline citations; no copyvios detected; neutrally written; hook verified by English-language source. Note: I took out "elderly" from the last hook, as "retirement settlement" implies that the targets were of advanced age. K.e.coffman (talk) 20:29, 17 November 2018 (UTC)

@97198: I have pulled this nomination due to a request for moving. This will be promoted once the discussion has closed. VincentLUFan (talk) (Kenton!) 11:55, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
