    • Comment: More hooks welcome.

Improved to Good Article status by Sinopecynic (talk) and Chiswick Chap (talk). Nominated by Onegreatjoke (talk) at 21:24, 12 May 2023 (UTC). Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Thomas Carlyle; consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.

Detailed interesting GA, on fine sources, offline sources accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. Of the hooks, I like the short ALT1 best, however, for formality: the fact needs a (duplicattion of a) citation right after that sentence. The image is licensed, but doesn't show much of his face in stamp size, - I believe that the photograph or the 1938 drawing would serve the purpose to introduce him better. I'd have a lot to say about image placement (don't sandwich text! let people look "in"!) but that is not relevant for DYK, - perhaps look at it anyway ;) - How do you feel about an infobox (... which is also not relevant to DYK, but by now rather the standard)? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:22, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: Added the inline. Does work as an image? If not, we could use the other's you stated. Onegreatjoke (talk) 01:01, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

Thank you! Yes, that image would work better for me. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:45, 5 July 2023 (UTC)

@Onegreatjoke: Gutzke 2016 needs a page number; can't access Kerry, Pionke & Dent 2018; Speare 1924 checks out; can't access Duffy 1892. Could you help with verification? theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 22:10, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

OGJ nominated, probably better off pinging @Sinopecynic and Chiswick Chap: ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 08:48, 12 July 2023 (UTC)
