Timber Sycamore[edit]

  • Examples of sources and quotes, these two from The New York Times:
NYT sources: [1]"The training program, which in 2013 began directly arming the rebels under the code name Timber Sycamore, is run by the C.I.A. and several Arab intelligence services and aimed at building up forces opposing President Bashar al-Assad of Syria. The United States and Saudi Arabia are the biggest contributors, with the Saudis contributing both weapons and large sums of money, and with C.I.A. paramilitary operatives taking the lead in training the rebels to use Kalashnikovs, mortars, antitank guided missiles and other weapons."[2]"Mr. Obama gave his approval for the C.I.A. to begin directly arming and training the rebels from a base in Jordan, amending the Timber Sycamore program to allow lethal assistance." -Darouet (talk) 14:07, 22 September 2016 (UTC)
I thought this was an impressively well-researched and well-written article, and on an interesting topic. It's new enough, long enough and reliably sourced; the hooks are sourced and QPQ has been done. Of the hooks, I think ALT2 is the best. I'd say this is good to go.
