Violet Lake[edit]

Created by KAVEBEAR (talk). Self-nominated at 22:12, 27 May 2017 (UTC).

  • New and long enough, all ¶ with citations, a copyvio check reveals no problems, QPQ done. A matter is that the hook and article states that Violet Lake was sacred to Kihawahine, but the source states:

One of the most sacred bodies of water in Hawai‘i, Violet Lake, or Ki‘owaiokiha, is the mountain home of Kihawahine, a mo‘o (lizard) goddess and ‘aumakua (guardian spirit) of Princess Keopuolani.

So, the source states that the lake is sacred in a general manner, but does not state that the lake was sacred to Kihawahine. I'm unable to access the other source used in the article (link) to verify the hook's content. It comes across that the lake is considered by others to be sacred per being the home of Kihawahine, rather than the lake being sacred to Kihawahine. North America1000 07:37, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
@Northamerica1000: How about this alternative hook? Changed article accordingly.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 07:47, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
  • ALT1... that Violet Lake, a high elevation lake on the slope of the West Maui Mountains, was believed to be the home of the Hawaiian lizard goddess Kihawahine?
  • ALT2... that Violet Lake, on the slope of the West Maui Mountains, was believed to be the home of the Hawaiian lizard goddess Kihawahine?
  • Good to go with either ALT1 or ALT2, and the article has been updated after my initial review above. I prefer ALT2, as it has less wordiness. North America1000 08:37, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
