@Zanhe: I saw that. But that doesn't mean he was "posted" there by the state. The status of the German Institute is also unclear; was it a state agency or a private company? It is also unclear why the state would not have drafted him, and why this position prevented him from being drafted into the army. Dr. K. 17:39, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

@Dr.K.: The German Institute was a state agency, and he was not drafted because he was working for the government overseas. But your concern is valid, so I've stricken the hook. Let's go with ALT1. -Zanhe (talk) 17:47, 4 December 2017 (UTC)
