Template:Dual fluency request/doc

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template is used in conjunction with {{cleanup translation}} and {{rough translation}} and provides standardized text for those posting translation-related requests at Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English. This template should always be substituted, and should always be followed by the four tilde signature indicator.

Usage[edit]

{{subst:Duflu|pg=ArticleName|language=LanguageName}} ~~~~
{{subst:Duflu|pg=ArticleName|language=LanguageName|comments=...}} ~~~~

Parameters[edit]

There are four named parameters, one required and three optional:

|pg= - name of the article on English Wikipedia. (required)
|language= – name of the language, fully spelled out; example: Spanish. (recommended)
|comments= Free text. Anything placed here will be appended to the rendered text. (optional)
|orig= – a 2 or 3-letter language code, followed by a colon and the name of the article on the non-English Wikipedia; example: de:München. (optional; discouraged)

Note: param |orig= was formerly recommended in order to generate the link to the foreign article, however now it is discouraged as the template derives it automatically from Wikidata information using the |language= parameter. Param |orig= may still be used to override Wikidata information or to supply a foreign link if the English article has not been attached to Wikidata.

Examples[edit]

A simple example:

{{subst:Duflu|pg=Nuclear submarine|language=French}} ~~~~

generates:

====[[Nuclear submarine]]====
The original article, ''[[:fr:Sous-marin nucléaire|Sous-marin nucléaire]]'', is in French. ~~~~

This renders as:

The original article, Sous-marin nucléaire, is in French. /your signature/
