- title: name of the featured topic (used for the talk page link)
- Example: 2003 Atlantic hurricane season for 2003 Atlantic hurricane season
- lead: name of topic to be displayed in header bar, including any formating and links. Must not include any bold text. Should be the same as the topic title - can be piped if needs be.
- Example: FA 2003 Atlantic hurricane season
- view (optional): Link to the topic's page itself
- count: number of articles in topic
- Example: 17
- image (optional): name of image to be used, which must not be fair use. If omitted or blank, no image is used.
- Example: 2003 Atlantic hurricane season map.png (see Image:2003 Atlantic hurricane season map.png)
- imagesize (optional) size of any image in pixels. If omitted or blank, this will take the value 60 (if there is an image)
- Example: 55
- To make the height 60, like in most of the current boxes, divide length by height and multiply by 60.
- column1, column2, column3: use these to list the articles in the topic using bulleted lists, with any formatting, links, and the FA/GA stars.
- Example:
- * FL List of storms
- * GA Tropical Storm Ana
- * FA Hurricane Juan
- * PR Hurricane Bob
- * — etc.
